Job Overview
The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining efficient production processes for Unilever’s consumer goods portfolio in Yambio. This role involves close collaboration with production teams, quality assurance, maintenance, and supply chain partners to ensure that manufacturing operations meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and cost‑effectiveness. The engineer will lead continuous improvement projects, implement lean manufacturing principles, and leverage data‑driven analysis to enhance throughput and reduce waste. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures, and work instructions for all production lines.
- Conduct time‑studies, capacity analyses, and bottleneck assessments to improve line efficiency.
- Lead root‑cause investigations for process deviations, equipment failures, and quality incidents.
- Implement lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping to drive waste reduction.
- Collaborate with maintenance to design preventive maintenance schedules that minimize downtime.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including OEE, yield, and energy consumption, providing regular reports to senior management.
- Support new product introductions by scaling pilot processes to full‑scale production.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in statistical analysis software (Minitab, JMP) and Excel.
- Hands‑on experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and automation equipment.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and a proven track record of implementing continuous improvement projects.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to manufacturing in South Sudan.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or a Master’s degree are considered an advantage.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in process engineering within a consumer goods, FMCG, or related manufacturing environment. Experience with large‑scale production lines, batch processes, and continuous flow operations is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 12,000,000 to SSP 18,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and contributions to the company’s pension scheme.
