Position Summary

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is seeking a highly motivated WASH Coordinator to oversee water supply systems, sanitation infrastructure, hygiene promotion programs, and emergency response interventions across multiple project locations in South Sudan. The successful candidate will lead technical teams, coordinate with humanitarian partners, and ensure high-quality WASH services for vulnerable communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of WASH projects.
  • Manage water supply systems including boreholes, solar pumping systems, and water treatment facilities.
  • Coordinate sanitation construction projects including latrines, drainage systems, and waste management facilities.
  • Develop hygiene promotion campaigns targeting schools, healthcare facilities, and communities.

  • Supervise WASH Engineers, Hygiene Promoters, and Field Officers.
  • Prepare donor reports, project proposals, and technical documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with Sphere Standards and humanitarian best practices.
  • Lead capacity-building initiatives for local staff and community committees.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Health, Water Resources Engineering, Public Health, or related discipline.
  • Master’s Degree in WASH, Public Health, Environmental Engineering, or Humanitarian Studies is advantageous.
  • Professional certifications in humanitarian response or project management are desirable.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing WASH programs.
  • Previous NGO or humanitarian sector experience preferred.
  • Experience working in emergency and post-conflict environments.
  • Strong understanding of donor-funded project management.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising multidisciplinary teams.
