Job Overview

The Senior Mine Safety Engineer will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of comprehensive safety programs for Anglo American’s mining projects in the Upper Nile region. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and update the Mine Safety Management System (MSMS) in alignment with ISO 45001 and local mining regulations.
  • Conduct comprehensive hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety audits across all mining operations.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to site supervisors, contractors, and workers on safe work practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate safety considerations into mine design, equipment selection, and process optimization.
  • Monitor and report safety performance metrics to senior management and external regulators.
  • Ensure emergency response plans are current, tested, and effectively communicated to all personnel.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through continuous improvement initiatives and employee engagement.
  • Prepare and present safety reports, dashboards, and recommendations to the Regional Safety Committee.

Experience

Experience working in Africa or other emerging markets is preferred, demonstrating adaptability to diverse cultural and regulatory contexts.

Salary
