Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Conservation Specialist to join our team in Maridi, South Sudan. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing conservation projects, collaborating with local communities, and promoting sustainable land-use practices. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the protection of South Sudan’s unique biodiversity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement conservation projects in collaboration with local communities and stakeholders
- Conduct field assessments and monitoring to track project progress and identify areas for improvement
- Collaborate with local government agencies and NGOs to promote sustainable land-use practices
- Develop and maintain relationships with local communities and stakeholders to build trust and support for conservation efforts
- Provide training and capacity-building support to local communities and conservation staff
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in conservation project management, community engagement, and stakeholder collaboration
- Strong understanding of conservation principles and practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
Education
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in conservation project management, community engagement, and stakeholder collaboration. Experience working in South Sudan or a similar context is highly desirable.
Salary
The salary for this position is 50,000 – 70,000 SSP per month, depending on experience.
