Job Overview
The Senior Industrial Automation Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of automated manufacturing systems for Honeywell’s clients in South Sudan and the surrounding region. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end‑to‑end development of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for new and existing production lines.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost‑benefit analyses to support automation investment decisions.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
- Develop and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and functional specifications.
- Oversee commissioning, testing, and validation activities to guarantee system performance and compliance with international standards.
- Provide technical mentorship and training to junior engineers and field technicians.
- Implement predictive maintenance strategies using IoT sensors and data analytics to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all automation solutions adhere to Honeywell’s safety, cybersecurity, and environmental policies.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements, present design proposals, and address technical queries.
- Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Expertise in PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric) and SCADA/HMI development.
- Strong knowledge of industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
- Proficiency in electrical schematics, control panel design, and instrumentation.
- Experience with industrial IoT platforms and data analytics tools.
- Solid understanding of safety standards such as IEC 61508 and ISO 13849.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a systematic approach to troubleshooting.
- Effective communication skills for interfacing with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Project management experience, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Ability to work in challenging environments and adapt to evolving project requirements.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Automation Professional, PLC Programming Certification) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of eight years of progressive experience in industrial automation engineering, with a proven track record of delivering large‑scale automation projects in manufacturing or process industries.
