Job Overview

This role is part of UNESCO’s broader South Sudan Jobs initiative to empower professionals in cultural and urban development. The Urban Design and Heritage Conservation Specialist will lead projects that balance modern infrastructure needs with the protection of historical sites, ensuring sustainable growth in Wau. The position requires collaboration with local stakeholders, government agencies, and international experts to develop innovative urban solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments of cultural heritage sites in Wau and surrounding areas.
• Design urban development plans that incorporate heritage conservation principles.
• Coordinate with local communities to identify cultural priorities and urban needs.
• Develop and implement training programs for local architects and planners on heritage-sensitive design.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for UNESCO and partner organizations.

Salary
