Job Overview
The Sustainable Livestock Production Specialist will work with ILRI’s Animal Production and Health team to develop and implement sustainable livestock production systems in South Sudan. The successful candidate will have a strong background in animal science and experience working in developing countries.
The position will involve conducting research, providing technical assistance to farmers and livestock producers, and collaborating with other stakeholders to promote sustainable livestock production practices.
The Sustainable Livestock Production Specialist will be based in Rumbek, South Sudan, and will work closely with ILRI’s country office and other partners in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sustainable livestock production systems in South Sudan
- Conduct research on livestock production and health in South Sudan
- Provide technical assistance to farmers and livestock producers in South Sudan
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to promote sustainable livestock production practices
- Develop and implement training programs for farmers and livestock producers
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Animal Science or related field
- 5-8 years of experience working in animal science or related field
- Experience working in developing countries
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Education
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Animal Science or a related field. A Ph.D. in Animal Science or a related field is an added advantage.
Experience
The successful candidate will have 5-8 years of experience working in animal science or a related field. Experience working in developing countries is highly desirable.
Salary
The salary for this position is SSP 400,000 – 600,000 per annum, depending on experience.
