Job Overview:ILRI is seeking a Sustainable Livestock Production Specialist to join its team in Rumbek, South Sudan. The successful candidate will work with smallholder farmers and pastoralists to improve their livestock production and productivity, and contribute to the development of sustainable livestock production systems in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement research projects to improve livestock production and productivity among smallholder farmers and pastoralists
- Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to develop and implement sustainable livestock production systems
- Conduct field research and collect data on livestock production and productivity
- Develop and disseminate research findings and recommendations to stakeholders
- Supervise and mentor junior staff members
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in Animal Science or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in livestock production and research
- Strong knowledge of livestock production systems and technologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate with stakeholders
Education:
- Master’s degree in Animal Science or related field
- PhD in Animal Science or related field (desired)
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in livestock production and research
- Experience working with smallholder farmers and pastoralists
- Experience in project management and implementation
Salary:100,000 – 150,000 SSP per annum
