Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainable Disaster Risk Reduction Specialist to join our team in Tonj, South Sudan. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing disaster risk reduction strategies and programs that promote community resilience and reduce vulnerability to disasters.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in disaster risk reduction, with experience in program management, community engagement, and partnership development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement disaster risk reduction strategies and programs that promote community resilience and reduce vulnerability to disasters
  • Conduct needs assessments and gap analyses to identify areas for improvement in disaster risk reduction
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote disaster risk reduction
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building to local communities and government agencies on disaster risk reduction
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of disaster risk reduction programs and make recommendations for improvement

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in Disaster Risk Reduction or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in disaster risk reduction, program management, community engagement, and partnership development
  • Strong background in disaster risk reduction, with experience in program management, community engagement, and partnership development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build partnerships with local communities and government agencies

Education

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Disaster Risk Reduction or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field with relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience

The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in disaster risk reduction, program management, community engagement, and partnership development. Experience in a similar role with an international organization or a National Red Cross or Red Crescent Society is highly desirable.

Salary

The salary for this position is 50,000 – 70,000 SSP per month, depending on experience.
