Job Overview
This position is part of EcoVolt’s mission to expand access to reliable, sustainable energy in South Sudan. The Smart Grid Systems Engineer will lead the design and deployment of intelligent energy distribution networks in Wau, integrating solar, wind, and grid systems to optimize performance and reduce outages. The role requires collaboration with local utilities, government agencies, and international partners to ensure compliance with global energy standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement smart grid systems for urban and rural energy distribution
- Integrate renewable energy sources (solar/wind) with traditional grid infrastructure
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for energy projects
- Monitor system performance using IoT-enabled grid analytics tools
- Train local engineers and technicians on smart grid maintenance protocols
- Prepare technical reports and project documentation for stakeholders
Required Skills
- Expertise in smart grid architecture and energy storage systems
- Proficiency in SCADA systems and grid automation software
- Experience with IEC 61850 communication protocols
- Knowledge of South Sudan’s energy regulations and grid standards
- Bilingual proficiency in English and local languages (preferred)
li>Strong analytical skills for energy load forecasting and demand management
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Master’s Degree in Energy Systems or Smart Grid Technology (preferred)
Experience
- Minimum 5 years in smart grid design and implementation
- Proven experience in renewable energy integration projects
- Fieldwork experience in Sub-Saharan Africa (preferred)
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 SSP monthly, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Working Environment
