Job Overview

The Senior Water Resources Engineer will lead the planning, design, and implementation of large‑scale water supply and sanitation projects in South Sudan. Reporting to the Regional Engineering Director, the role involves overseeing multidisciplinary teams, conducting hydrological assessments, and ensuring compliance with international standards and local regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead feasibility studies, hydraulic modeling, and water balance analyses for new water supply schemes.
  • Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, and construction drawings for treatment plants, pipelines, and storage facilities.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, and environmental engineers to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Manage procurement processes, contractor selection, and on‑site supervision to guarantee quality and schedule adherence.
  • Ensure projects comply with Veolia’s environmental policies, local regulations, and donor requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and risk assessments for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to local staff and partners.
  • Facilitate community engagement workshops to align project outcomes with local needs and cultural considerations.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in water resources software such as HEC‑RAS, EPANET, or SWMM.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic design, water treatment processes, and sanitation technologies.
  • Excellent project management abilities, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic or local languages is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in challenging environments and adapt to evolving project scopes.
  • Leadership experience with a track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects on time.

Education

A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, CWI, or equivalent are highly valued.

Experience

Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in water resources engineering, with at least three (3) years in a senior or lead role on large‑scale water supply or sanitation projects. Experience working in East Africa or similar developing contexts is preferred.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 30,000,000 to SSP 45,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and expatriate allowances may be applicable.
