Job Overview
The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all PepsiCo products manufactured in South Sudan meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the incumbent will lead a team of QA specialists, oversee critical control points, and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the production line. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance programs that align with PepsiCo’s global standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Lead internal and external audits, including HACCP, GMP, and ISO 22000, ensuring corrective actions are promptly addressed.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) throughout the manufacturing process, utilizing statistical process control (SPC) tools to identify trends and deviations.
- Collaborate with R&D to validate new product formulations and ensure they meet quality specifications before launch.
- Manage non‑conformance investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to mitigate risks.
- Train and mentor QA staff on best practices, documentation standards, and emerging food safety technologies.
- Prepare detailed quality reports and present findings to senior management, highlighting opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all packaging materials and finished goods meet label accuracy, allergen control, and shelf‑life requirements.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., Codex Alimentarius, local South Sudanese standards) and quality management systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Minitab, Excel, and QA software platforms.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities with a track record of successful CAPA implementation.
- Effective communication skills for interfacing with cross‑functional teams and external auditors.
- Leadership experience in managing QA teams and driving a culture of quality.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of product integrity.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), HACCP, or ISO Lead Auditor are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of progressive experience in quality assurance within the food and beverage manufacturing sector. Experience working in emerging markets, particularly in Africa, and familiarity with local regulatory frameworks will be advantageous. Demonstrated success in leading audit programs, managing CAPA cycles, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives is essential.
