Job Overview
The Senior Public Relations Manager will lead the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies that enhance the BBC World Service’s brand visibility and credibility in South Sudan. Reporting to the Regional Communications Director, you will oversee media relations, stakeholder outreach, crisis communication, and content promotion across multiple platforms. This role requires a deep understanding of the local media landscape, cultural sensitivities, and the ability to craft messages that resonate with diverse audiences. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement integrated PR campaigns that align with BBC editorial standards and regional objectives.
- Manage relationships with local journalists, broadcasters, and digital influencers to secure coverage and partnerships.
- Lead crisis communication efforts, providing timely and accurate information during emergencies or sensitive events.
- Oversee the production of press releases, media kits, speeches, and social media content in English and local languages.
- Coordinate media events, press conferences, and community outreach programs to promote BBC initiatives.
- Monitor media coverage, analyze sentiment, and produce regular reports for senior leadership.
- Mentor junior communications staff and foster a collaborative, high‑performance team environment.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic or local dialects is an advantage.

- Strong media network within South Sudan and familiarity with regional broadcasting regulations.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline is required. Candidates holding a Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., APR, CIM) will be given preference. Continuous learning and staying updated with global media trends are essential for success in this role.
Experience
Applicants must have at least seven years of progressive experience in public relations, media communications, or a related field, with a proven track record of leading successful campaigns in emerging markets. Experience working with international broadcasters or NGOs in Africa is highly desirable. Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,500,000 to SSP 2,500,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives, health insurance, and a retirement contribution scheme.
