Job Overview

The Senior Network Security Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and management of security solutions for Huawei’s telecommunications infrastructure in South Sudan. Reporting to the Head of Security Operations, you will work closely with network architects, field engineers, and local partners to safeguard data, protect network assets, and ensure compliance with international security standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce comprehensive network security policies, standards, and procedures aligned with industry best practices.
• Design, configure, and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and other security appliances across the Renk hub.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analyses to identify and remediate potential threats.
• Monitor security events using SIEM tools, investigate incidents, and coordinate incident response activities with cross‑functional teams.
• Collaborate with telecom engineers to integrate security controls into network designs, ensuring seamless performance and compliance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior security staff and local partners.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of security architectures, configurations, and incident reports.
• Stay informed about emerging cyber threats, regulatory changes, and new security technologies relevant to the telecommunications sector.

Required Skills

• Deep expertise in network security protocols, encryption, and authentication mechanisms.
• Hands‑on experience with Cisco, Huawei, Juniper, or similar networking equipment.
• Proficiency in security tools such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Check Point, and open‑source solutions.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, and ITU security frameworks.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a proactive approach to threat mitigation.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently in remote environments and manage multiple priorities.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNP Security, or GICSP are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of seven years of hands‑on experience in network security, preferably within the telecommunications industry. Salary
