Job Overview
SSCEC is seeking a Disaster Resilience Infrastructure Specialist to lead the design and implementation of infrastructure projects that mitigate disaster risks in South Sudan. This role is critical for ensuring communities have access to durable, climate-resilient infrastructure in the face of increasing natural disasters and environmental challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee construction of disaster-resilient infrastructure (e.g., flood barriers, earthquake-resistant buildings).
- Conduct site assessments to identify disaster risk zones and recommend engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with local governments and NGOs to align projects with national resilience strategies.
- Develop technical reports and feasibility studies for infrastructure projects.
- Train local engineers and construction teams on disaster-resilient building practices.
Required Skills
- Expertise in civil engineering with a focus on disaster risk reduction.
- Experience in South Sudan’s construction sector or similar environments.
- Proficiency in CAD software and geospatial tools (e.g., GIS).
- Strong project management and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Knowledge of international building codes and climate adaptation standards.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in infrastructure development with a focus on disaster resilience.
- Proven track record in managing construction projects in South Sudan or neighboring regions.
Salary
150,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, depending on experience.
