Job Overview
The Public Policy Analyst will support the Policy and Research department by conducting rigorous analysis, drafting policy briefs, and providing strategic recommendations to government stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on economic, social, and governance issues affecting South Sudan.
- Develop policy briefs, reports, and presentations for senior officials, donors, and development partners.
- Analyze legislative proposals, regulatory frameworks, and implementation strategies.
- Provide evidence‑based recommendations to improve public service delivery and fiscal management.
- Collaborate with local ministries, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders to gather data and validate findings.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of existing policies and programs.
- Support the design of pilot projects and policy experiments.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regional and global best practices in public policy.
Required Skills
- Advanced analytical and statistical skills (e.g., STATA, R, or Python).
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English; knowledge of Arabic or local languages is a plus.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in preparing policy documents and briefing notes.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Understanding of South Sudan’s political and economic context.
- Experience with development financing mechanisms.
- Team‑oriented mindset with a commitment to collaborative problem solving.
Education
A Master’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Development Studies, Political Science, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. or additional certifications in data analysis are highly regarded.
Experience
Applicants should have 5‑7 years of relevant experience in policy analysis, research, or advisory roles within international development, government, or think‑tank environments. Experience working in East Africa or conflict‑affected settings is advantageous.
