Job Overview
The Compliance and Risk Management Director will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of the bank’s compliance framework and risk management strategies in Nimule. This senior role reports directly to the Country Head of Risk and Compliance and works closely with senior management, regulatory bodies, and internal audit teams to ensure that Ecobank South Sudan adheres to all local and international regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance program that meets Central Bank of South Sudan regulations, AML/CFT standards, and international best practices.
- Lead risk assessments, identify emerging risks, and develop mitigation plans across credit, operational, market, and reputational risk domains.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.
- Collaborate with business units to embed risk controls into product development, lending processes, and digital banking initiatives.
- Conduct regular training sessions for staff on compliance policies, ethical standards, and risk awareness.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, regulators, and industry bodies, representing Ecobank in compliance‑related discussions.
- Monitor and analyze changes in legislation, providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Develop key risk indicators (KRIs) and dashboards for executive reporting.
Required Skills
- Deep knowledge of South Sudanese banking regulations, AML/CFT frameworks, and Basel III standards.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing senior executives.
- Proven leadership experience in building high‑performing compliance and risk teams.
- Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and adapt quickly to legislative changes.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic or local languages is an advantage.
Education
A Master’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Anti‑Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), or equivalent are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs within the banking or financial services sector, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Experience in a multi‑country African banking environment is preferred.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 30,000,000 to 45,000,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
