Job Overview
This position is part of Cargill’s South Sudan Agricultural Development Program, aimed at enhancing productivity in the country’s key cash crops including sorghum, maize, and groundnuts. The role requires working directly with farming cooperatives in Juba and surrounding regions to implement training programs, monitor crop health, and facilitate access to premium markets. Candidates will join a team of 15 agricultural professionals working across 12 counties in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field assessments of farming practices and soil health
- Design and deliver training programs on modern agricultural techniques
- Monitor and report on crop development cycles and yield improvements
- Coordinate with local authorities on agricultural policy implementation
- Facilitate farmer cooperatives and market access initiatives
- Collect and analyze agricultural data for program evaluation
Required Skills
- Proven experience in agricultural extension services
- Strong knowledge of South Sudan’s farming ecosystems
- Bilingual proficiency in English and local languages (Dinka, Nuer preferred)
- GIS mapping and data analysis capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in remote rural environments
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, or related field from a recognized university. Postgraduate qualifications in Rural Development or Sustainable Agriculture are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum 2-3 years experience in agricultural extension services, preferably in South Sudan or neighboring East African countries. Experience working with smallholder farmers and cooperatives is required.
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Working Environment
