Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive field investigations to monitor human rights compliance in local communities.
• Draft detailed reports on human rights trends and specific incidents for international stakeholders.
• Collaborate with local government agencies and NGOs to promote legal frameworks.
• Provide expert legal guidance on international humanitarian law and human rights treaties.
• Develop training modules for local community leaders on rights protection.
• Liaise with international legal bodies to report significant human rights concerns.

Required Skills

• Advanced expertise in International Human Rights Law and Humanitarian Law.
• Exceptional investigative and analytical skills for complex data collection.
• Strong proficiency in report writing and legal documentation.
• Ability to navigate sensitive political and social environments with diplomacy.
• Fluency in English and local languages is highly preferred.

Education

A Master of Laws (LLM) specializing in Human Rights or International Law is mandatory. A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with significant specialized experience may be considered for highly qualified candidates.

Experience

A minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional experience in human rights monitoring, legal compliance, or international law within a non-governmental organization or international agency is required. Proven experience working in East Africa or conflict-affected regions is a significant advantage.

Salary
