Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Urban Planner to lead large-scale metropolitan development projects in Wau. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of comprehensive master plans for emerging urban centers in Western Bahr el Ghazal.
- Conduct detailed spatial analysis and land-use modeling to predict future urban growth patterns.
- Collaborate with civil engineers and environmental scientists to integrate transport and utility networks into urban designs.
- Facilitate public consultation sessions to ensure community needs are integrated into urban development strategies.
- Review and approve local zoning regulations and land-use permits to ensure compliance with national standards.
- Manage multi-disciplinary teams of junior planners, surveyors, and GIS technicians.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for government ministries and international development partners.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and other spatial analysis software.
- Deep understanding of international urban planning standards and local land tenure systems.
- Exceptional project management skills with experience handling multi-million dollar infrastructure projects.
- Strong communication skills for negotiating with diverse stakeholders and government officials.
- Ability to interpret complex socio-economic data to inform spatial planning decisions.
Education
A Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Architecture, or a closely related field is mandatory. A PhD in Urban Design or Sustainable Development is highly preferred.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in urban planning or spatial design, preferably within a developing economy context. Proven experience in leading large-scale infrastructure projects is essential. You should have a track record of working with international NGOs or global engineering firms.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 1,200,000 SSP to 2,500,000 SSP, depending on experience, qualifications, and performance metrics. This competitive package reflects the high level of expertise required for this role.
