Job Overview
This role is part of Transaid’s mission to transform urban mobility in South Sudan. The Urban Mobility Planner will lead the design and implementation of sustainable transportation projects in Wau, addressing challenges such as traffic congestion, pedestrian safety, and public transit accessibility. The position emphasizes collaboration with local stakeholders to create equitable and climate-resilient mobility systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute urban mobility strategies aligned with South Sudan’s national transport policies.
- Conduct data-driven analyses of traffic patterns, public transport demand, and pedestrian flow in Wau.
- Design infrastructure plans for bike lanes, pedestrian pathways, and multi-modal transit hubs.
- Engage with local communities, government agencies, and NGOs to ensure inclusive project development.
- Monitor and evaluate the environmental and social impact of mobility interventions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in urban mobility planning or transportation engineering projects.
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and transportation modeling software (e.g., ArcGIS, TransCAD).
- Strong analytical skills for traffic data interpretation and scenario modeling.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Familiarity with South Sudan’s urban development challenges and cultural context.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience
3-5 years of professional experience in urban mobility planning, with a focus on low-income or post-conflict contexts. Experience in South Sudan or neighboring regions is advantageous.
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
