Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of WASH projects in assigned areas, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s country program and national strategies.
• Provide technical guidance and support to government counterparts, implementing partners, and local communities on WASH program design and execution.
• Conduct regular field visits to project sites to assess progress, identify challenges, and provide on-site support and capacity building.
• Ensure the timely and accurate collection, analysis, and reporting of WASH data for program monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting.
• Facilitate coordination and collaboration with other UN agencies, NGOs, and government sectors to ensure integrated and effective humanitarian response.
• Manage project budgets, resources, and procurement processes in accordance with UNICEF’s financial regulations and procedures.
• Advocate for improved WASH policies and practices at local and national levels, contributing to sustainable development goals.

Required Skills

• Proven technical expertise in water supply systems, sanitation technologies, and hygiene promotion methodologies, especially in emergency contexts.
• Strong project management skills, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and budget management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, adapt to challenging environments, and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting tools, with strong computer literacy (MS Office suite).

Education

A Bachelor’s Degree is required in Civil Engineering, Environmental Health, Hydrology, Public Health, or a closely related field. A Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline will be considered a distinct advantage.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH programs, with a strong preference for experience gained in humanitarian or development contexts, particularly in fragile states like South Sudan.
