Job Overview
The Senior Legal Counsel will lead the legal function for Dentons’ South Sudan operations, overseeing corporate governance, contract management, and regulatory compliance. You will serve as the primary legal advisor to senior management, ensuring that all business activities align with local laws and international best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive legal advice on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters affecting the firm’s operations in South Sudan.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including joint venture agreements, service contracts, and procurement documents.
- Lead the development and implementation of compliance programs to ensure adherence to local statutes, anti‑corruption regulations, and international standards.
- Manage relationships with external counsel, government officials, and industry regulators to facilitate smooth business operations.
- Conduct legal risk assessments and advise senior leadership on mitigation strategies.
- Oversee the preparation of legal documentation for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.

Education

Experience
The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of progressive legal experience, with a focus on corporate governance, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance. Prior experience working in emerging markets or within the African legal environment is highly desirable.
