Job Overview
The Senior Field Service Engineer – Heavy Equipment will lead a team of technicians in delivering installation, maintenance, and repair services for Caterpillar’s heavy machinery across the Upper Nile region. You will act as the primary technical liaison between customers, local dealers, and Caterpillar’s global engineering network. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a field service team to deliver high‑quality installation, commissioning, and maintenance of heavy equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on Caterpillar machines, minimizing downtime.
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for key customer assets.
- Provide on‑site technical training and knowledge transfer to customer operators and local technicians.
- Coordinate with regional parts logistics to ensure timely availability of spares and consumables.
- Maintain detailed service reports, compliance documentation, and safety records in line with corporate standards.
- Collaborate with Caterpillar’s engineering and product development teams to relay field feedback and support product improvements.
Required Skills
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electronic controls.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic or local languages is a plus.
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and mobile service tools.

Education
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as Caterpillar Service Technician (CST) or equivalent are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of eight years of progressive experience in heavy equipment service, with at least three years in a supervisory or lead engineer role. Experience in the African market, particularly in the construction or mining sectors, will be considered an advantage.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 30,000,000 to SSP 45,000,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives, health insurance, and a comprehensive expatriate allowance where applicable.
