Job Overview

The Data Privacy Officer will lead Microsoft’s data protection initiatives in South Sudan, ensuring compliance with local regulations, international standards such as GDPR, and Microsoft’s internal policies. This role will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to embed privacy by design into all products and services delivered in the region. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive data privacy program aligned with South Sudanese data protection laws and global best practices.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) for new services, cloud deployments, and AI solutions.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the South Sudan National Data Protection Authority and other regulatory bodies.
• Provide guidance and training to internal teams on privacy requirements, data handling, and breach response.
• Monitor and audit data processing activities to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
• Lead incident response for data breaches, including investigation, reporting, and remediation.
• Prepare and submit regular compliance reports to senior management and external regulators.
• Advise product and engineering teams on privacy‑by‑design principles and data minimization strategies.
• Stay current with evolving privacy legislation, industry standards, and emerging threats.
• Promote a culture of privacy awareness through workshops, newsletters, and internal communications.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of data protection regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and South Sudan’s Data Protection Act.
• Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English; knowledge of Arabic or local languages is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and data security tools.
• Ability to work independently and influence senior stakeholders.
• Project management experience with a track record of delivering compliance initiatives.
• Proficiency in drafting policies, procedures, and privacy notices.
• Ethical mindset with a commitment to confidentiality and integrity.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CISSP are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in data privacy, information security, or regulatory compliance, preferably within a multinational technology environment. Experience working in emerging markets or with government agencies is advantageous.

Salary

The annual compensation ranges from 30,000,000 to 45,000,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP), commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and comprehensive benefits.
