Job Overview
The Data Center Operations Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying, and maintaining Huawei’s state‑of‑the‑art data center facilities in Yei. This position involves overseeing hardware installation, network configuration, power and cooling management, and ensuring compliance with international standards for security and uptime. The engineer will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including network architects, security analysts, and service delivery managers, to deliver seamless cloud services to enterprise customers across South Sudan. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, install, and commission servers, storage systems, and networking equipment within the data center.
- Monitor and optimize power usage effectiveness (PUE) and cooling efficiency to meet sustainability targets.
- Implement and maintain robust security controls, including physical access, fire suppression, and intrusion detection.
- Conduct regular capacity planning and performance analysis to anticipate growth and prevent bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware procurement, warranty management, and technical support.
- Develop and execute disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
- Provide 24/7 on‑call support for critical incidents and ensure rapid resolution.
- Document all operational procedures, configurations, and change management activities.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of server hardware (Dell, HPE, Cisco UCS) and virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Hyper‑V).
- Proficiency in networking protocols, routing, switching, and firewall technologies.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, or Huawei eSight.
- Understanding of data center standards (TIA‑942, ISO 27001, Uptime Institute Tier).
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure.
- Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic or local languages is a plus.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP, or Huawei HCIA‑DC are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience managing enterprise‑grade data center environments. Prior exposure to cloud platforms (Huawei Cloud, AWS, Azure) and experience in a multicultural, fast‑paced setting will be valued. Demonstrated success in leading projects, optimizing infrastructure, and ensuring high availability is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 30,000,000 to SSP 45,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
