Job Overview
The Senior Geospatial Analyst will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced GIS projects that address critical challenges in South Sudan, including humanitarian response, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure development. Reporting to the Regional GIS Manager, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, government agencies, and international partners to translate complex spatial data into actionable insights. Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end GIS project lifecycles, from data acquisition and processing to analysis, visualization, and delivery.
- Develop and maintain high‑resolution spatial databases, ensuring data quality, metadata standards, and interoperability.
- Design custom geoprocessing models, scripts, and tools using Python, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Enterprise to automate workflows.
- Collaborate with field teams to integrate satellite imagery, UAV data, and ground surveys into comprehensive geospatial products.
- Produce detailed maps, dashboards, and reports that support decision‑makers in sectors such as agriculture, health, and infrastructure.
- Provide technical mentorship and training to junior analysts and partner organizations.
- Stay abreast of emerging GIS technologies, open‑source platforms, and best practices, recommending innovative solutions.
- Ensure compliance with data security policies, ethical standards, and local regulations.
Required Skills
- Expertise in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and geospatial scripting.
- Strong knowledge of remote sensing techniques, image classification, and LiDAR processing.
- Experience with cloud GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS Online, AWS, Azure).
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Effective communication skills for presenting complex spatial concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Project management experience, including stakeholder coordination and timeline adherence.
Education
A Master’s degree in Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, Cartography, Environmental Science, or a closely related field is required. Professional certifications such as Esri Technical Certification, GISP, or similar are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of eight years of progressive experience in GIS analysis, with a proven track record of leading large‑scale spatial projects in developing regions. Experience working with humanitarian or government agencies in Africa is a strong advantage.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000,000 to SSP 250,000,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and cost‑of‑living adjustments are included.
