Job Overview

The Corporate Legal Counsel will join the Legal & Compliance Department to provide comprehensive legal support to the bank’s operations in South Sudan. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on banking regulations, anti‑money laundering, and sanctions compliance.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review commercial contracts, loan agreements, and service level agreements.
  • Manage and coordinate litigation and dispute resolution processes.
  • Conduct legal research on evolving South Sudanese legislation and its impact on banking operations.
  • Develop and update internal policies to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the compliance team in risk assessments and regulatory reporting.

Experience

The candidate must have a minimum of five years of experience providing legal counsel within the banking or financial services sector, preferably in emerging markets. Experience handling cross‑border transactions and familiarity with international banking standards will be considered an advantage.

Salary

The annual salary range for this position is 12,000,000 – 18,000,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP), commensurate with experience and qualifications. The compensation package includes performance‑based bonuses and other benefits aligned with Standard Chartered’s global standards.
