Job Overview

The Learning & Development Manager will lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and training initiatives that align with UNESCO’s strategic objectives and national education priorities. This role will oversee the creation of competency‑based curricula, develop blended learning solutions, and coordinate capacity‑building workshops for teachers, administrators, and community educators. The manager will also serve as a liaison between UNESCO, the Ministry of General Education, and partner organizations to ensure coherence and sustainability of learning interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of national and sub‑national curricula that reflect UNESCO standards and local cultural contexts.
• Design and deliver blended learning modules, e‑learning platforms, and teacher training workshops.
• Coordinate with the Ministry of General Education, NGOs, and donor agencies to align program objectives and secure resources.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of learning interventions using quantitative and qualitative metrics.
• Produce high‑quality instructional materials, guides, and assessment tools.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team of curriculum specialists, instructional designers, and field officers.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and policy briefs for senior management and stakeholders.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in curriculum development, instructional design, and adult learning principles.
• Proficiency in e‑learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Moodle) and data analysis software.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work in multilingual environments and adapt materials to local languages.
• Project management experience with a track record of delivering results on time and within budget.

Education

A Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum Studies, or a closely related discipline is required. Relevant certifications in project management or e‑learning design are advantageous.

Experience

Applicants must have 5‑7 years of progressive experience in curriculum development, training program management, or related fields, preferably within the African education sector or international development context.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from SSP 15,000,000 to SSP 25,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional allowances for travel and professional development may apply.
