Job Overview
This role focuses on designing and implementing smart infrastructure projects in Kauda, South Sudan. The Smart City Infrastructure Planner will lead initiatives to optimize urban mobility, energy systems, and public services through data-driven planning and IoT-enabled solutions. The position requires collaboration with municipal authorities, technology providers, and community stakeholders to create sustainable, future-ready cities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive urban development plans integrating smart technologies for energy, transportation, and waste management.
- Conduct feasibility studies for smart city projects, including cost-benefit analyses and environmental impact assessments.
- Collaborate with municipal authorities to align infrastructure projects with national urbanization strategies.
- Oversee the deployment of IoT sensors and digital platforms for real-time city monitoring and decision-making.
- Engage with local communities to ensure inclusive and equitable urban development outcomes.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in urban planning, smart city technologies, or sustainable infrastructure development.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating urban data and proposing scalable solutions.
- Proficiency in GIS mapping software and urban simulation tools (e.g., CityEngine, AutoCAD).
- Excellent project management capabilities with experience in multi-stakeholder coordination.
- Fluency in English and working knowledge of local languages (Dinka, Nuer) preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related discipline. Advanced degrees (Master’s) in Smart City Technologies or Urban Sustainability are advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years of professional experience in urban development projects, with a focus on smart infrastructure implementation in emerging markets. Prior experience in South Sudan or neighboring East African regions is highly desirable.
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 SSP monthly, commensurate with experience and project impact.
