Job Overview

This role focuses on analyzing and strengthening agricultural value chains to enhance productivity, market access, and income generation for smallholder farmers. The position requires collaboration with local stakeholders, government agencies, and international partners to design and implement scalable solutions tailored to South Sudan’s unique agricultural landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct market and value chain assessments to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance agricultural productivity, post-harvest handling, and market linkages.
  • Provide technical support to farmers and cooperatives on best practices in crop/livestock management and value addition.
  • Facilitate training programs on sustainable farming techniques, financial literacy, and business development.
  • Monitor and evaluate project outcomes using data-driven approaches to inform adaptive management.
  • Collaborate with local governments and NGOs to align initiatives with national agricultural policies and priorities.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in agricultural value chain analysis and development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data collection and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of South Sudan’s agricultural sector and rural development challenges.
  • Ability to work in remote, resource-constrained environments.
  • Fluency in English and local languages (Dinka, Arabic) is an asset.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Economics, Rural Development, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in agricultural development, value chain analysis, or related fields.
  • Experience working in South Sudan or other Sub-Saharan African contexts is highly desirable.

Salary

150,000 – 200,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
