Job Overview
The Senior Mine Geologist will lead geological investigations, data interpretation, and resource modelling for Glocore’s emerging mining projects in the Upper Nile region. Working closely with the Exploration & Development team, you will design and execute field programs, evaluate ore bodies, and provide technical recommendations that drive project feasibility and profitability. This role is central to ensuring that Glocore’s operations adhere to the highest standards of environmental stewardship, safety, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise geological field surveys, core drilling, and sampling campaigns.
- Interpret geological data to develop 3‑D models, reserve estimates, and mine plans.
- Collaborate with mining engineers, metallurgists, and environmental specialists to integrate geological findings into overall project design.
- Prepare technical reports, maps, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
- Ensure compliance with local mining regulations, health and safety standards, and Glocore’s sustainability policies.
- Mentor junior geologists and field technicians, fostering knowledge transfer and professional growth.
- Participate in community outreach programs to communicate project benefits and address local concerns.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in geological software (e.g., Surfer, Leapfrog, GIS).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work in remote, challenging environments and adapt to changing project needs.
- Proven leadership and team‑management experience.
- Knowledge of South Sudan’s mining legislation and environmental guidelines.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CSP, GIA) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in mineral exploration, geological modelling, and resource estimation, preferably within African mining contexts. Experience with hard‑rock environments, ore‑body delineation, and cross‑functional project teams is essential.
Salary
Glocore offers a competitive remuneration package ranging from SSP 15,000,000 to SSP 25,000,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives, health insurance, and a comprehensive expatriate allowance for eligible candidates.
