Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Hydrologist to join our technical team in Bor. This role is pivotal to our mission of ensuring sustainable water management across the region. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive hydrogeological surveys and groundwater modeling to inform borehole placement.
• Analyze seasonal water level fluctuations to predict drought and flood risks in the Jonglei basin.
• Collaborate with local government authorities to integrate scientific data into regional water management policies.
• Supervise field technicians during water quality testing and aquifer monitoring programs.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and feasibility studies for large-scale water infrastructure projects.
• Monitor the impact of climate change on local water sources and recommend adaptation strategies.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in hydrological modeling software such as MODFLOW or GSFLOW.
• Expertise in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for spatial analysis of water resources.
• Strong technical writing skills for producing high-level scientific reports.
• Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams in challenging field environments.
• Deep understanding of South Sudanese environmental regulations and water rights.

Education

A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Water Resource Engineering, or a closely related Earth Science discipline is required. A PhD is highly preferred for this senior-level technical position.

Experience

Candidates must possess at least 5 to 7 years of professional experience in hydrological research or water resource management, preferably within East Africa or similar semi-arid/flood-prone environments. Proven experience in managing large-scale field data collection is essential. You should have a track record of working with international NGOs or governmental water agencies.

Salary
