Job Overview

PATH is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Digital Health Systems Specialist to join our dynamic team in Renk, South Sudan. This critical role will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining digital health solutions that strengthen the country’s health information systems. The Digital Health Systems Specialist will work closely with the Ministry of Health, local partners, and PATH’s global digital health experts to ensure that technology solutions are appropriate, sustainable, and effectively support public health programs. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in digital health platforms, strong project management skills, and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within South Sudan’s healthcare landscape. This Digital Health Systems Specialist Job Vacancy in South Sudan is a critical position that will drive the adoption and effective use of digital tools to transform healthcare delivery. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design, development, and implementation of digital health information systems, including electronic medical records (EMR), laboratory information systems (LIS), and mobile health (mHealth) applications.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to the Ministry of Health and local partners on digital health strategy, architecture, and best practices.
  • Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies to identify digital health opportunities and challenges within the South Sudan context.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for healthcare workers and system administrators on the effective use and maintenance of digital health tools.
  • Ensure interoperability between various digital health systems and data sources to create a cohesive health information ecosystem.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of digital health systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary upgrades or modifications.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for digital health initiatives, ensuring timely and successful project completion.
  • Collaborate with global PATH teams to adapt and localize digital health solutions for South Sudan.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation, user manuals, and standard operating procedures for digital health systems.
  • Advocate for data-driven decision-making and promote the ethical use of health data.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and managing digital health information systems (e.g., DHIS2, OpenMRS, CommCare).
  • Strong understanding of health data standards, interoperability protocols (e.g., HL7, FHIR), and data security best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, with experience in leading complex technology projects in resource-limited settings.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools to extract insights from health data.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a challenging and dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical issues.
  • Cultural sensitivity and experience working in diverse cultural contexts, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.

Education

A Master’s Degree in Public Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Information Management, or a closely related field is required. A Bachelor’s degree with extensive relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive professional experience in digital health, health information technology, or a related field, with a significant portion of this experience gained in developing countries, preferably in sub-Saharan Africa. Experience working with government ministries of health and international NGOs is highly desirable.

Salary

The salary for this position ranges from 1,500,000 to 2,500,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) per annum, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and PATH’s compensation structure. This competitive package reflects our commitment to attracting top talent for Employment in South Sudan.
