Job Overview
This role focuses on developing and implementing sustainable material solutions for large-scale construction projects in Lakang. The position requires expertise in evaluating local resources, optimizing material performance, and ensuring compliance with international green building standards. Key Responsibilities
- Research and implement innovative building material solutions using locally sourced, sustainable resources
- Conduct material performance testing and environmental impact assessments
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to integrate sustainable materials into project designs
- Develop cost-benefit analyses for eco-friendly construction alternatives
- Maintain compliance with LEED and other green building certification standards
- Train local teams on sustainable construction techniques and safety protocols
Required Skills
- Expertise in sustainable construction materials (recycled composites, bio-based materials, etc.)
- Proficiency in material lifecycle analysis software (Simapro, GaBi)
- Strong understanding of South Sudan’s environmental regulations
- Excellent project management and cross-cultural communication skills
- Ability to work in remote field conditions
- Fluency in English and basic knowledge of local languages preferred
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field. Advanced certification in sustainable construction (LEED AP, BREEAM) is a strong advantage.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in sustainable construction materials development, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa. Experience with South Sudan’s climate-specific building challenges is highly desirable.
Salary
500,000 – 700,000 SSP annually, with performance-based bonuses and housing allowance.
