Job Overview

The Mining Operations Manager will lead all aspects of mine planning, production, and operational excellence at De Beers’ new mining site near Malakal. Reporting to the Regional Director, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible extraction of mineral resources. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive mine plans that optimize ore recovery while adhering to safety and environmental standards.
• Oversee daily production activities, ensuring targets are met and operational costs are controlled.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, supervisors, and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and government agencies to maintain compliance with mining regulations and social licence requirements.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production volume, equipment utilization, and safety metrics, and report findings to senior management.
• Manage the procurement, maintenance, and reliability of mining equipment and infrastructure.
• Implement robust risk management and emergency response procedures to protect personnel and assets.

Required Skills

• Strong leadership and team‑building capabilities with a focus on safety culture.
• Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan) and data analytics tools.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and reporting.
• Ability to manage budgets, contracts, and supply chain logistics effectively.
• Problem‑solving mindset with a track record of implementing operational efficiencies.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic or local languages is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in project management, safety, or environmental management are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in underground or open‑pit mining operations, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or managerial role. Demonstrated success in leading large‑scale projects in challenging environments is essential.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 15,000,000 to SSP 25,000,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
